How Big is Your Dream?

Sunny Cheng, Hong Kong

So on that day Moses swore to me, `the land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly. (Joshua 14:9)

Moses blessed Caleb with the land on which his feet had walked. Suppose you were Caleb and your children were the young people you are leading, and where your feet walk will be their land, do you want big step ahead or little move carefully? I will definitely walk with big steps, so that my children will have big piece of land. The dream that we are projecting will be the footpath of our younger ones. The size of your dream lays the boundary of their land. This has been challenge to me for years. Caleb was 40 when Moses swore to him this promise (Joshua 14:9). I am 41 now and as I look back, I feel excited for I have been projecting a bigger dream than the one my pastor had for my generation. Our younger ones are doing much greater thing than we did. What if you have even bigger dream you are having and you project it to your disciples. Yes, they will do even greater job.

I was in England for a youth conference few years ago and the Lord was challenging me to dream bigger with many testimonies given by young people. All over the world, young people are doing things our super stars in Hong Kong are doing. I was really shocked and I realised that this is a problem with us, Chinese. I don’t know if it is the same in Taiwan or China. At least I know that this is a problem with Hong Kong people. Our problem is we don’t have big dream. Isn’t it terrible? For years we’ve been “too humble” to follow the very safe pattern of our fathers but not following the footstep of Caleb. We’ve been limiting God’s work in the way we dream and we even limit the growth of our younger generation. I must repent from this and this time when we come to the first CCMN Youth Summit, my desire for myself and you is that the Lord will open our eyes to see greater things He has prepared for us. I believe all things we do comes start from what we believe. Let’s dream big for our God is a big God.

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." (Jer 33:3)
