FIRST PRIORITY
1. Our primary focus is the neglected areas of world mission, namely the poor [which includes Hindus and Buddhists] and Islam. We recognise the validity of calls to other areas as the Lord directs. (See note A)
2. The role our missionary involvement and support is primarily to serve the national church as they require, supporting them in their vision to reach the unreached in their area and beyond.
3. The scope of our involvement is primarily determined by the Cell Church Missions Network and their areas of activity.
4. Development of a pathway for preparing future missionaries from within our congregation, recognising that the call to missions involves a partnership between individuals and the local church. (See notes B and C)
5. Promote ownership and involvement in missions at individual, group and congregational levels through our missionary advocates. We recognise short-term mission trips as an important ingredient in this development.
6. Short, medium and long term trips will be primarily to missionaries from our congregation and established CCMN teams. Priority will be given to areas where our people are working and with CCMN teams that we have a working relationship.
Notes:
A. At present we have people from our congregation working with AAO [Aboriginal ministry]. Student Life [University
ministry], Mercy International [Thailand orphanages].
B. Decisions as to areas for missionary placement of individual/families that involve church financial and pastoral
support will require their involvement in the preparation pathway and joint agreement between the church and the
individual/family. [Refer to point 3 above]
C. We recognise that preparations for missions will require experience and training from other churches and
organisations.
Don't forget that the first Sunday of every month is our Missions offering, so please come prepared for that as the people that we support as a church in the missions field are relying on it.
Our first priority is to reach out to those who don't yet know Jesus - locally, nationally and globally.
We do this by supporting our missionaries financially, practically and prayerfully.
