SPLAT
Even at a young age, children have the ability to have a meaningful relationship with God; discuss spiritual truths with peers; change to become more like Jesus; play a role in leadership and other places of responsibility; and change the community around them. The goal of SPLAT is to provide the love, training and other things needed for children to achieve these aspects of following Jesus.
SPLAT takes place on Sunday mornings at the same time as Big Church. A normal Sunday morning would involve games, offering, worship (in many different forms) and prayer followed by a time of teaching, small group work and learning a memory verse. SPLAT also has special mornings at least once a term, where the major focus is having fun and spending quality time with each other in different types of parties and games days.
SPLAT happens every week as a result of a committed team of people who are involved on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly or once-a-term basis. The team receives material as a guide to prepare for their part in the morning's activities. The team is also required to join any training activities to improve their skills, be a faithful cell member and have proven their commitment to the church.
In the future, SPLAT is looking to see more children impacted for Jesus outside of Christian circles, through outreach events and the children within. The children's ministry team (which gives the kids an opportunity to serve and develop their giftings) will be further developed to see the future leaders of our church trained. With our focus on God and His guidance in our journey, it will be exciting to see the next few years unfold.
